July 2026 Mayor Letter
Dear Stow Residents,
Happy July and Happy Independence Day! July is one of the most exciting months in Stow, as our community comes together to celebrate our nation’s birthday and everything that makes our city such a special place to call home.
Our annual #CelebrateStow festivities are in full swing, with a full lineup of events and activities for all ages. Whether you participated in the Paddle Battle, lacing up for the Firecracker Run, attending community events throughout the week, or simply spending time with family and friends, there are countless ways to celebrate.
Of course, the highlight of the week is our 68th Annual Stow Fourth of July Parade, themed "Celebrate America! Celebrate Community!" This year's parade is especially meaningful as we celebrate America's 250th anniversary and recognize The AMP as our 2026 Parade Grand Marshal. The parade is a wonderful tradition that brings together residents, businesses, organizations, and visitors to celebrate our shared sense of community and patriotism.
Thank you to everyone who helps make #CelebrateStow such a memorable week each year—our volunteers, sponsors, participants, City staff, and the many community groups that make these events possible.
The AMP: Building the BeatThe excitement surrounding The AMP continues to grow! We had our first Pop-Up on June 30, although it was a very HOT evening, it was an amazing night. We are continuing to keep the momentum going all summer long. These family-friendly events offer opportunities to learn more about the project, enjoy music and activities, and be part of the journey as Stow's future outdoor performance venue takes shape. We encourage everyone to attend one of the upcoming pop-ups and join in the excitement.
Helping Hands: Supporting Our CommunityOne of the things that makes Stow special is the way we care for one another. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, our Stow Community Closet is once again collecting school supplies and accepting registrations to help local students start the year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed. Thank you to our generous residents, businesses, and community partners who continue to support this important initiative.
Our partnership with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank also continues through our monthly Pop-Up Food Pantry, providing fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food to families in need. These efforts are a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a tremendous difference in someone's life.
Introducing Our New Compost BinsWe're also excited to introduce our new community compost bins, offering residents another opportunity to reduce waste and support environmental sustainability right here in Stow. We encourage residents to learn more about this new program and consider incorporating composting into their everyday routines.
Enjoy the Best of SummerAs we enjoy all that July has to offer, I encourage everyone to get outside, attend an event, support your neighbors, and take advantage of the many opportunities to connect with our community. I wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day and a wonderful summer season.
Sincerely,
Mayor John PribonicMayor, City of Stow
